Dr. Carol Esson BSc(Hons), BVSc(Hons), MVSC (Wildlife and Conservation Medicine), PhD.
Originally from NSW I graduated from Sydney university in 1997. We moved to Cairns in 1998 where we intended to stay for 3 years and 22 years later we are still here. Four children and numerous pets later, including two Golden retrievers, two cats, birds, a variety of reptiles and the wildlife that comes and goes.
I have been fortunate enough to work at an amazing small animal clinic in Cairns for many years, honing my skills and keeping me up to date with the latest medications and treatment options available. My main interests are in infectious disease, internal medicine and pathology, both in domestic animals and wildlife.
Over the years, in my pursuit of working with wildlife and conservation, I have been privileged to have encountered a variety of amazing wildlife species both within Australia and overseas. From working on koala nutrition, health of Proserpine rock wallabies, health of northern quolls and their interaction with cane toads, to the health of wild snow leopards in Mongolia for my PhD.
I am looking forward to branching out in my own mobile veterinary service in the Kuranda area where I live.
